Stewardship

Stewardship refers to the principles and practices of responsible management and care of resources entrusted to individuals by God, including time, talents, finances, and the environment.

Stewardship is considered an essential part of the Christian lifestyle and discipleship. It emphasizes the understanding that everything belongs to God, and humans are merely caretakers or stewards of these resources.

Stewardship encompasses various aspects, including:

1. Financial Stewardship: This involves the responsible management of financial resources, including tithes and offerings. Seventh-day Adventists believe in returning a faithful tithe (10% of their income) to support the mission and ministry of the church.

2. Time Management: Stewardship also extends to the proper utilization of time. SDA members are encouraged to use their time wisely, prioritizing activities that honor God and contribute to their spiritual growth, community service, and personal well-being.

3. Health Stewardship: The SDA Church places a strong emphasis on health and wellness. We believe that caring for one’s body, which is considered the temple of the Holy Spirit, is an essential part of stewardship. Adventists encourage a plant-based diet, regular exercise, and avoiding harmful substances such as tobacco and alcohol.

4. Environmental Stewardship: The SDA Church recognizes the importance of caring for the environment as part of our stewardship responsibilities. We promote sustainability, conservation, and responsible use of natural resources. Many Adventists are involved in initiatives to protect the environment and promote ecological responsibility.

Overall, Stewardship emphasizes the concept of faithful stewardship in all areas of life. It encourages SDA members to use our resources in a way that aligns with biblical principles, promotes the well-being of others, and glorifies God.
